It is considered to bring good lucks to eat the roll without saying A word until you finish it on the Japanese Spring Coming Day – Feb 3. You also need to face the “the year’s lucky direction, which is west-southwest this year.
Usually, throwing beans going to follow this. It is kind a ceremony held at each home praying bad things kicked out, and happiness comes in. We all shout “Demons out! Happiness come in” and throw beans against “demon”, usually one of the family volunteer who is good at acting and wearing demon face mask. It is fun!
After this, we eat number of beans the same amount of each ages plus one, praying happy and healthy life until the next coming the Spring Day.
