Mame Daifuku is one of the most popular Japanese traditional sweets. Sweetened Adzuki beans are covered with very soft and stretchy mochi rice cake. Salty (usually)mame red peas are woven in the mochi rice cake. It is very simple sweets, so each shop has their own significance, which has been served to neighbors customers for a long time.
I recently have chances walking around Ueno, Yanaka, Ushima area very often. In the area very old town scenery remains. Going through old shop lines are very enjoyable. It can call a part of Shita-machi, Tokyo.
One day I was served a mame daifuku, and it was amazing… No wonder there are many small traditional Japanese confectionery around here. The level of Anko sweetend Adzuki beans in this zone is wonderfully high!!, I noticed.
I must try other confectionery’s mame daifuku, too.
And I did. Yes.
