Molly the Genji lightning bug


Molly is the yurukyara, which means soft cutie representative, of Moriyama in Shiga prefecture Japan. It is designed after Genji lightning bug (Genji Botaru) inhabit in the Lake Biwa. We see the spieces only in very clean water like here. People in Moriyama are struggling to maintin the quality of local water and proud of it.
Besides Molly, there are so many yurukyaras in Japan representing each area. They help to promote their local industries and invite people for sightseeing.
